Purpose

  • To oversee the milling operation on a shift basis to deliver on the required milling KPIs, product quality, and volume throughput at an optimal cost.

The Job

  • Optimize the mills to achieve a balanced stock distribution, target extraction, and all quality metrics.
  • Ensure proper wheat gristing and conditioning for milling operation.
  • Identify training need for production staff in relation to mill performance, accurate record keeping, and work ethics through on-the-job training for direct reports.
  • Coordinate the production data capturing to engender productivity and data quality. Thus, ensuring quality reporting of shop floor activities.
  • Monitor and ensure free material movement or flow from the raw wheat bins to the mill to sustain continuous production.
  • Coordinate basic autonomous production maintenance to ensure machines efficiency
  • Implementing standard operating procedures for all work processes to facilitate efficient and safe work execution.
  • Liaise with QC, QA, packing managers, and supervisors on quality of stocks and just-in-time delivery of product to bins/Arox.
  • Drive GMP, 5s, and waste reduction programs on shift among team members.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • Diploma in Milling Technology [SMS].
  • NABIM milling course, African Milling school course, and IGP.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years cognate experience in a similar role.

The Person Must Have:

  • A deep understanding of milling operations, grain processing techniques, and machinery functionality.
  • Strong expertise in monitoring production parameters to ensure optimal product quality and consistency.
  • Proven ability to supervise milling staff, coordinate workflows, and maintain smooth operational efficiency.
  • Solid knowledge of food safety standards, quality control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify mechanical or process issues and resolve them promptly.
