The Manager, Security at Chevron Nigeria Limited is a key leadership role based in Lagos, Nigeria. The manager is responsible for leading and managing security within the organization to support Chevron’s business objectives in Nigeria. This role is integral to maintaining Chevron as a secure organization to operate and achieve its business goals amidst Nigeria’s dynamic political and security landscape. The role demands strategic stakeholder engagement with government security forces, advocacy, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our business sustainability and security compliance.

Building and maintaining effective relations with the government security forces

  • Leads the company's engagements with top government security forces at the federal and state levels.
  • Coordinates all engagements and communication between the company’s management, government security forces, and agencies.
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with other oil and gas companies and security organizations.
  • Represents Management at key meetings and security presentations with Government Agencies.
  • Promotes common platform for security strategy in the Niger Delta area through the Oil and Gas Industry Security Plan, including Minimum Security Standards for Oil and Gas Infrastructure in Nigeria.
  • Maintains positive relationships with Regional Security Officers of key embassies.
  • Gathers and evaluates strategic security information, providing insights on government interests and initiatives, and engages proactively with governmental security forces through advocacy.
  • Manages high-level relationships with the government to enable appropriate planning, support, and response to Company operations. Member of the Industry Working Group on setting security standards in Nigeria.

Managing the security strategy for the company

  • Formulates security strategy for the SBU that meets the company’s business needs and ensures that the company’s security policies and procedures are aligned with Corporate Policies and Procedures to deliver the strategy.
  • Directs NMA security threat analysis, risk evaluation and assessment, intelligence collation/dissemination, contingency planning, crisis management response, and executive protection programs.
  • Directs Company investigations into theft, fraud, sabotage, conflict of interest, employee misconduct, and other grave security incidents negatively impacting the company. Provides appropriate guidance in any subsequent criminal proceedings.
  • Provides expert counsel to NMA Management in mitigating security, social, and political risks. Participates in the company’s scenario planning process and provides security risk assessments for ongoing and proposed new
  • ventures.
  • Maintains close collaboration with Global Security and implements approved Global Security policies, guidelines, physical and technical standards, and programs designed to protect the Company's assets.
  • Serves as a member of the NMA Management Committee, the Security Steering Committee, and the Crisis Management Team [CMT] meetings.
