Qualifications:

  • PSW certification or diploma is a must.
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level C Certificate
  • Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 1 year)
  • 2 Steps of Tuberculosis (TB) Test and Immunizations ( up to date)
  • Strong time management skills, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Excellent communicator, able to foster relationships with Healthcare Staff and clients
  • Ability to work independently and work effectively within a team environment
  • Interest in continuous learning – high energy and focused

Responsibilities:

  • Compassion, integrity, and quality care are all expectations of our community culture.
  • Provides personal care to the client
  • Support client to perform ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) including, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and more
  • Assist client in safely ambulating and transferring
  • Perform delegated tasks as required
  • Promote client independence
  • Provides psychological and emotional support
  • Provide clear, timely communication to the client, family and any stakeholders
  • Promotes a safe environment for both the client and worker

Work Conditions:

  • Work requires travel within community or facility
  • May involve long hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet organizational needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods involved
  • Lifting, pushing, turning involved
  • May repeat the same movement
